Securing Correctional Facilities: Inside And Out

Render of perimeter intrusion detection and video management products protecting a correctional facility

Senstar products have been protecting correctional facilities around the world for over 35 years.

Preventing escapes

Prisons and other correctional facilities are often regarded as an anomaly within the security sector, as the primary focus is to detect inmates trying to escape as opposed to detecting people trying to get in. Senstar perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) are deployed at all federal medium and maximum-security prisons in Canada and at a large number of prisons throughout the U.S. and around the world. To date, there have been no undetected escapes from prisons that use Senstar technologies.

Detecting contraband

While the threat of people trying to get onto prison grounds without having to be there is slim, there is still the risk of drugs and other contraband entering the facility from the outside perimeter. To help facilities address this issue, Senstar offers an outdoor people and vehicle tracking video analytic that can detect individuals approaching a fence or wall to throw or deposit items.

Keeping staff safe

Senstar’s personal duress solutions worn by guards and other personnel instantly send a call for help at the touch of a button. These solutions can also be adapted for other institutional and industrial environments.
