What is a Perimeter Alarm System?

A perimeter alarm system is an essential security measure that organizations should have to prevent unwanted entry. It uses several components, including a control panel and sensors for monitoring your property’s exterior. Cameras or alarms/sirens can be triggered upon detecting suspicious activity near one of these points on the fence line.

The perimeter alarm is designed to keep an organization’s staff and assets safe. Sensors are strategically placed on the perimeter so that they can pick up any discrepancies. When this happens, an alert can be sent from one of these triggers back towards their control panel for appropriate action to be taken or proper authorities notified.

There are different types of sensors that can be used for perimeter security. The most common ones include:

  • Photoelectric beams
  • External PIRs
  • Laser sensors
  • Radar sensors
  • Fiber-optic detection sensors
  • Microwave sensors
  • Electric monitored fences
  • Microwave sensors
  • Vibration sensors
  • Seismic sensors
  • Monitored CCTV
