Face Recognition analytic helping Cosmo Music identify the bad guys

October 16, 2018

Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada is the world’s largest interactive musical instrument store. The store recently replaced its 20-year-old analog video system with new cameras and implemented Senstar Symphony video management software, along with Senstar’s Face Recognition video analytic to help prevent shoplifting.

Before implementing Face Recognition, when a suspicious customer was identified through video surveillance, the image would be screen captured and emailed to staff. Now, suspicious customers can be flagged and security personnel are automatically notified if that person enters the store again.

Before purchasing the analytic, Cosmo Music thoroughly tested the analytic to ensure it met their need.

“One of our staff had a full beard one day and it was shaved off the next day and the system still picked him up,” said Cosmo Music Vice President and COO. “That’s what sold me on it.”
