Senstar Symphony™ Receives Lenel Factory Certification under Lenel’s OpenAccess Alliance Program

Senstar Symphony intelligent video management software (VMS) interfaces with Lenel’s OnGuard® access control security system

Ottawa, ON, Canada – July 30, 2018 – Senstar today announced that Senstar Symphony (formerly Aimetis Symphony) has received Lenel factory certification and joined the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program (OAAP). Senstar Symphony interfaces with the OnGuard access control system, providing customers with an enhanced platform for security monitoring.

“Senstar has completed required factory testing at Lenel to validate the functionality of its interface to the OnGuard system. Symphony allows users to verify access control events directly through the operator client,” said John Marchioli, OAAP product management, Lenel. “We look forward to their continued involvement in the Lenel OpenAccess Alliance Program.”

“Users can easily video-verify their OnGuard access control events inside Symphony, allowing them to use one interface for all of their security monitoring,” said Justin Schorn, vice-president, product management at Senstar.

Symphony is a software platform that allows control of an entire video surveillance system from one central location. Users can connect and configure cameras, monitor open spaces, utilize video analytics and use centralized cloud management for multi-site deployments.

Senstar acquired Aimetis, the creator of Symphony, in April 2016. Since that time, the two companies have worked in parallel to continue to provide market-leading perimeter intrusion detection systems, video management systems and analytics solutions. Over the coming months, Senstar and Aimetis will become one company, resulting in reduced complexity, improved performance and unified support.

Senstar Introduces the FiberPatrol FP1150 Fence-mounted Intrusion Detection System

Newest addition to company’s fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection line broadens range of applicability

Ottawa, ON, Canada – June 19, 2018 – Senstar is pleased to announce the FiberPatrol FP1150, the newest addition to its fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection line. The dual-channel FP1150 accurately detects and locates intrusion attempts for up to 10 km (6.2 mi) or 5 km (3.1 km) per side in a platform that is more compact, more highly integrated, and more rugged than previous generations.

The FP1150 enhances the market-leading capabilities of the Senstar’s FiberPatrol line by extending the operational temperature range to 50°C (122°F), making the system more robust by using solid-state disk drives, and integrating previously-external optical modules – all while shrinking the system into a single 4U rack-mount enclosure and adding lower-cost options for shorter perimeters.

“The FiberPatrol FP1150 delivers all the core features and benefits of Senstar’s fiber optic technology while broadening the range of applicability,” said Product Manager Stewart Dewar. “With its new features and price options starting at distances as low as 1 km (3,280 ft), the FP1150 enables end users and integrators to standardize on FiberPatrol for use on shorter perimeters than ever before.”

Senstar’s fiber optic technology features low nuisance alarm rates, distinguishes between real threats and environmental disturbances, provides true detection of simultaneous events, offers cut immune configuration options, requires no power or data infrastructure in the field, is EMI and lightning immune making it intrinsically safe for explosive atmospheres, provides software configurable detection zones, and integrates with a wide variety of SMS/PSIM platforms.

Along with the FiberPatrol FP1150, Senstar’s FiberPatrol line includes the FiberPatrol FP1100X for long range fence mounted applications, the FiberPatrol FP6100X for buried intrusion detection applications, and the FiberPatrol FP6100X TPI detection system for buried pipelines.

Senstar Announces First Major Sale of Senstar LM100™ Hybrid Perimeter Intrusion Detection and Intelligent Lighting System

World’s first of its kind product to protect the perimeter of a $1.5 billion brewery for a Fortune 500 international beverage company

Ottawa, ON, Canada – June 14, 2018 – Senstar is pleased to announce the first major sale of its Senstar LM100 hybrid perimeter intrusion detection and intelligent lighting system. Over 1,300 LM100 luminaires will protect the 28,000 ft (5.3 mi) perimeter of a $1.5 billion brewery being constructed by a Fortune 500 international beverage company.

“The Senstar LM100 is the first perimeter intrusion detection product of its kind to combine two key security features in one cutting-edge product – deterrence (lighting) and detection (vibration-sensing) – illuminating intruders at the fence line and alerting the site’s security management system of any attempt to cut, climb or otherwise breakthrough the fence fabric,” said Senstar Product Manager Todd Brisebois. “We are honored the beverage company has chosen the Senstar LM100 to safeguard its people and property and are confident the system will provide the desired level of security for the site.”

This project, in which the Senstar LM100 will be coupled with layers of video analytics and surveillance cameras, will be the second partnership between Senstar; the beverage company; A&E firm Benham, A Haskell Company; and installer EON Solution SA de CV. The group previously worked together on the expansion of a brewery site where Senstar’s FiberPatrol fence-mounted fiber optic intrusion detection system was installed to protect a 5,000 ft (0.95 mi) section of new perimeter fence.

“There was not a one-size fits all for the beverage company’s two most recent construction projects,” said Senstar’s Executive Director of Business Development Nancy Marshall. “But with Senstar’s broad portfolio of perimeter intrusion detection products, we were able to offer solutions that met the different requirements of the distinct sites.”

Launched in Fall 2017, the Senstar LM100 provides fence vibration detection as well as configurable, localized, uniform lighting allowing cameras to operate with a higher dynamic range, ensuring objects and people are illuminated while avoiding the generation of dark silhouettes in front of bright backgrounds. Combining sensing and lighting technologies allows the lighting to be controlled by its sensing which further increases its deterrence capability. With the LM100’s low voltage design, installation costs are kept low as expensive electrical infrastructure or expensive labor are not required, and the need for additional permits, which could be time consuming and costly, is eliminated.

The Senstar LM100 is easy to install and maintain, environmentally-friendly, and suitable for sites of all sizes as a standalone or complimentary perimeter security system, seamlessly integrating with video management and analytics systems, PSIM and security management systems. Senstar has sold several LM100 systems to small sites including VIP residences, electrical substations, marinas and marijuana production facilities.

Senstar Symphony VMS Supports GDPR Compliance

Video management software provides features to assist* video surveillance operators in meeting new European General Data Protection Regulations

Ottawa, ON, Canada – May 28, 2018 – With the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) now in effect, Senstar is pleased to confirm its Symphony video management software (VMS) provides a set of privacy-related features that support organizations with GDPR compliance while maintaining situational awareness and operator efficiency.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) apply to all European Union members as well as all foreign companies that process EU resident data. GDPR harmonizes the regulatory environment regarding data privacy and provides EU residents with the right to learn how their personal data is used as well as the right to view their personal data. Video surveillance operators are directly affected by these regulations as recorded video of identifiable people is considered personal data.

“Senstar takes data privacy very seriously,” said Senstar’s VP of Product Management Justin Schorn. “Our Symphony VMS was designed from the outset with data privacy and security in mind. Fine-tuned user permissions, along with intelligent people and vehicle masking, assists Symphony operators to meet data privacy regulations.”

Specific Symphony features that help video surveillance operators meet GDPR include encrypted data transfer, static and dynamic video scrambling, two-person rule, granular user management, Microsoft Active Directory support, scheduled access control, security profiles, logging of user actions, and secure video recording and data export.

Symphony also holds certifications from DGUV UVV insurance funds and the Center for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), and is currently in the process of obtaining the data protection seal of EuroPriSe certification. As well, banks and credit institutions around the world trust the security of Symphony.

Senstar Symphony™ is a software platform that allows for control of an entire video surveillance system from one central location. Connect and configure cameras, monitor open spaces, implement video analytics, or use centralized cloud management tools for multi-site management.

*Disclaimer: Senstar Symphony™ assists “Data Controllers” and “Data Processors” to meet GDPR regulation, however it does not make video surveillance GDPR compliant. It is recommended that legal advice is sought to ensure full compliance.

Multiple Senstar Systems Installed to Protect Major US Airport

Multi-layer intrusion detection solution creates one of Senstar’s largest ever single-facility projects

Ottawa, ON, Canada – March 26, 2018 – Senstar is pleased to announce it has delivered the perfect perimeter intrusion detection (PIDS) solution to protect the perimeter of one of North America’s largest cargo airports. Due to the facility’s unique perimeter security requirements, Senstar combined multiple technologies to form a comprehensive system that effectively protects the airport and keeps the nuisance alarm rate (NAR) low.

“With a busy road running along one side of the airport’s five-mile perimeter, and people using the airport’s fence to lean on while waiting at bus stops, a fence-mounted solution alone would have been an NAR nightmare,” said Nancy Marshall, Senstar’s Executive Director of Business Development. “By combining multiple technologies, we created a system in which a single alarm is not enough to trigger a response, but, if multiple alarms are received, the threat is deemed to be real and a response is initiated.”

Working with A&E firm Faith Group LLC and installer Standard Electric, the multi-layer intrusion detection system has been up and running for several months and the airport is very pleased with the results.

“It was an excellent experience,” said the airport’s project lead. “Standard Electric was very confident in the (Senstar) products. They told us to ‘Relax. We are going to do this right and you’re going to be extremely satisfied.’ And we are.”
