Senstar Showcases Simple and Affordable Perimeter Security Solution at Security Canada Central Expo

FlexZone® ranging fence-mounted sensor ideal for sites of all sizes

Toronto, Canada – October 19, 2016 – Senstar, the world’s largest manufacturer of perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) is excited to demonstrate how perimeter security can be extended to sites of all sizes at Security Canada Central Expo in Toronto. Today and tomorrow, Senstar will feature live presentations and interactive demonstrations of the FlexZone ranging fence-mounted intrusion detection sensor and wireless gate sensor, as well as introduce special pricing on FlexZone-4 kits.

“There is a general perception in the security industry that fence detection sensors are complicated, expensive and are only used for high value applications,” said Director of Engineering Bill Hodgins. “While that may have been true in the past, technological advances have led to more simplified and affordable systems. Senstar’s FlexZone is easy to install, hassle-free to operate and maintain, and cost-effective.”

FlexZone detects and locates any attempt to cut, climb or otherwise break through a fence, accurately locating intrusions even when there are multiple simultaneous intrusions and in the presence of background environmental noise. FlexZone can detect and locate perimeter intrusions over a distance of up to 600 m per sensor processor, and within 3 m of accuracy. It has minimal infrastructure requirements and is adaptable to a wide variety of fence types. The Wireless Gate Sensor complements the FlexZone system, addressing the long-standing challenge of installing and maintaining sensor cables on sliding and swinging gates.

Senstar is offering multiple ways to learn about FlexZone at the Expo, including live demonstrations at its booth – 238 – and in a Manufacturer’s Training Session entitled “Six Simple Steps to Affordable Perimeter Protection”. This session will be held today at 3 p.m. in Pinsent 4.

Qognify Successfully Integrates Situator with Senstar’s FiberPatrol™-PR

PARAMUS, New Jersey, July 11, 2016Qognify, formerly NICE Security, today announced the successful integration of their leading PSIM and Situation Management solution, Situator, with Senstar’s fence-mounted fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection system, FiberPatrol-PR. The integration and joint solution was initiated on behalf of a major utility company in North America in order to enable them to maintain compliance with stringent NERC-CIP regulations and improve security and safety.

NERC CIP reliability standards were developed to ensure the physical security of critical assets that control or effect the reliability of bulk electric systems. Non-compliance can result in heavy fines; as high as $1 million per day, per violation. As per NERC, utility companies must respond to incidents within a certain time period upon an alert.

Fiber Patrol-PR is capable of identifying an intrusion point along a fence with high accuracy, providing up to 14.9 mi (24 km) of protection per processor. When an intrusion is detected, FiberPatrol-PR automatically creates alerts in Situator, which provides operators with situational awareness. Situator can then guide operators to the most effective and compliant response via pre-defined, automated and evolving incident management capabilities. Being able to identify a threat or a problem in real time and handle it effectively and efficiently is critical. Moreover, Situator provides detailed, accurate reporting that serves as proof of compliance for regulators.

Utility companies are faced with heightened security and safety threats, reduced budgets, and ever-increasing compliance pressures. “The Situator/FiberPatrol-PR solution effectively addresses these challenges with the ability to identify, notify and effectively respond in real time to ensure business continuity and compliance,” said Senstars Product Manager Stewart Dewar. “This solution benefits from the inherent reliability of FiberPatrol-PR’s advanced fiber optic technology, with its cut-immune capability.”

Moti Shabtai, President of Qognify: “We are proud to team up with Senstar to help our client, a leading electric utility company, meet the critical challenges of improving compliance, particularly with respect to NERC CIP. The joint solution increases the effectiveness of their security and safety operations and reduces operational costs which are important benefits for any organization. “The automated documentation of every incident’s response allows them to always be prepared for audits and provide proof of compliance.”

Senstar Introduces the UltraLink Rugged Controller

Remote management device for Senstar sensors with automated alarm response

Las Vegas, Nevada – April 6, 2016 – Senstar, the world’s largest manufacturer of perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS), is pleased to announce the UltraLink Rugged Controller, a ruggedized, embedded controller for unmanned sites that enables remote management of Senstar security sensors and allows local control of security functions.

Stewart Dewar, Senstar’s product manager, said: “The UltraLink Rugged Controller provides organizations with multiple unmanned sites a simplified means for alarm reporting and remote maintenance in a single device that does not need to be installed in an environmentally-controlled location.”

The UltraLink Rugged Controller connects to a site’s Senstar sensors and I/O devices and provides a standard Ethernet/IP-based interface for communication with the Security Management System (SMS) using the facility’s own WAN/SCADA network. This provides a common network access point from which all configuration and calibration can be done, and event log data can be viewed. Maintenance visits to sites are reduced, as is the need to access individual sensors when site visits are required.

The Controller can be programmed to activate video recording and deterrence devices (lights, sirens, etc.) in response to sensor alarms or diagnostic events. Alarm response actions will occur even if network connection to the central SMS is temporarily lost.

Senstar Announces FiberPatrol-PL for Pipeline Integrity Monitoring

Detects and Locates Third-Party Interference Over a Distance of up to 72 km (45 mi) Per Processor

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – January 26, 2016 – Senstar, the world’s largest manufacturer of perimeter intrusion detection systems (PIDS) is pleased to announce FiberPatrol-PL, an advanced security system for buried pipelines, optimized to detect third-party interference (TPI). FiberPatrol-PL is the latest addition to Senstar’s renowned FiberPatrol intrusion detection systems, which have been protecting critical infrastructure around the world since 2009.

FiberPatrol-PL uses fiber optic cable buried along the pipeline to detect and locate ground vibrations and acoustic signatures associated with TPI activity. A single FiberPatrol-PL processor can detect and locate TPI over a distance of up to 72 km (45 mi) and within 10 m (33 ft) accuracy.

“FiberPatrol-PL provides the longest protection per single processor currently on the market, addressing one of the biggest issues to effectively securing pipelines – covering long distances between above-ground infrastructure locations where electronic equipment can be installed,” said Senstar’s Product Manager Stewart Dewar. “No electronics, power, communications infrastructure or grounding points are required for spans of up to 72 km (fiber distance), making FiberPatrol-PL a cost-effective solution for long pipelines.”

FiberPatrol-PL detects TPI activity that threatens pipeline integrity: machine or manual digging, heavy machinery operating nearby, and even people walking in the vicinity of the pipeline. The system’s advanced detection algorithms optimize the detection of TPI activity while rejecting nuisance alarms. It can also reject vibrations caused by traffic on roads and railways running parallel or perpendicular to the pipeline.
